Fishing Report

Well, it’s January 3rd and we still have no fishable ice in
southern Wisconsin. But no fear, cold weather is on its way (hopefully).
Don’t give up we have plenty of time for the lakes to freeze. Ice
fisherman itchin to go ice fishing, can head up north. For those looking
to get out of the house and go fishing, there are many lakes open to
launch a boat or to fish from shore. There have been anglers taking
boats out on Pine, Pewaukee, Nagawicka, Upper and Lower Nemahbin, Gevena,
and Mendota just to name a few. The Rock River has also been a popular
destination for anglers. Anglers have been successful catching walleyes
from boats and also from shore. Use a jig baited with a large or jumbo
fathead, large lake shiner or large rosy red minnow for best results.
Stinger hooks are recommended for those light biting fish. The harbors
of Lake Michigan have been producing many brown trout. Spawn sacs have
been working best.
